Abstract According to develop the POS module,how to use the SFP and the usage of POS technology in Ethernet has been introduced. In this paper we made a study of the accurate orientation technology on POS-PHY LEVEL 2 Specification and CompactPCI Hot Swap Specification.This paper is made up of 5 chapters, including as follows: The first chapter introduces the background of POS,and the purpose of the paper. Chapter 2 introduces the theory of principle and execution of optical module and the last development of Optical module, and detailed describes POS-PHY LEVEL 2 SPECIFICATION, and describes POS-PHY LEVEL 3 SPECIFICATION and OIF SPI4.2 SPECIFICATION briefly. Chapter 3 detailed introduces the seperation of POS module,and the function of all the parts,including the details when design the POS module.Especially,Chapter 3 detailed describes how to design the CompactPCI. Chapter 4 describes what should be focused on of the POS module,including: (1)how to deal with Hot Swap;(2)an accurate study on Electrical Interface of SFP;(3)How to change the timing when some device is configured,and the code of CPLD is appended;(4)How to download the FPGA. In Chapter 5, procedure of debugging is gathered,and the author reflect on the fault in the process of developing the board.Then,some waveforms of some important signals and the insufficiency in the board is appended. First,this paper introduces the specification POS that is usually used in Ethernet,then detailed describes how to design the POS module and the emphasis and difficulties when being designed and debugged.
