Secondary Surveillance Radar(SSR) is a key equipment in Air Traffic Control (ATC) and military Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) ,SSR is a hot issue in radar signal processing . With the increasing of the number of airplanes, there are many factors which restrict the development of SSR. To overcome the restriction, S mode SSR was put forward. S mode also has many functions that traditional SSR doesn't have. This paper will explain the application of this structure in S mode Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar respondent digital signal processor, involving system designing, analyzing the hardware circuit in detail and bringing forward a new algorithm of reply signals processing. The most important content is the algorithm of the functions which will be completed in DSP. In this project, the main functions of FPGA are Detection of Valid Pulse Position and Leading Edge and Initial Detection of a 4-Pulse Preamble. The main functions of DSP includes Reference Level Generation, Overlapping Signals, Consistent Power test, DF Validation, Re-Triggering and code confidence, etc.. The code confidence labeling and content extraction and associating the OBA signals and AMP signals to get final code algorithm in this thesis provides a practical way to label the code confidence of S mode SSR. It ensures the decoding in the condition of high-density replies.
