With the rapid development of IP network, it has been becoming large and complex, and it has provided more and more multiple services, so it has more and more probability of failure. If the network has failure or does not operate well, it will affect the efficiency, even result in great loss. So the efficient IP network management has been becoming more and more important requirement. Accordingly, it is necessary for the study and design on IP network management system. This paper designs an IP network monitoring system for IP Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN). This system can monitor the changes of network configurations, the failures of the network, the problem of network performances in time,and give alarms rapidly. At first, this paper describes IP network management and related technologies. Then it analyses the requirement of IP network management in detail. On the base of above, it studies and designs the IP network monitoring system and each module of it. At last, the paper lays stress on the technology of alarm event correlation, which used in the alarm event correlation module. The front data gathering modules, including topology discovery, SNMP performance gathering, NetFlow traffic gathering, TRAP collecting, are the foundation of IP network monitoring, so they are the key parts to design. This paper studies and designs them in detail, and related technologies and methods are also discussed particularly. The technology of alarm event correlation has high value in practicability and theory, this paper lays stress on it. After defining the alarm event using Backus Normal Form (BNF), it puts forward an event correlation model with Petri net, and using this model designs the alarm event correlation module. The IP network monitoring system this paper designs can fulfill the network management requirements for IP MAN. It has the relatively high practicability and can be widely used. The algorithms and methods used in the system also have relatively high value in practicability and theory. |
