Research To Monitoring The Status Of Campus Network

With growth of the campus network and popular of the network application, the troubleshooting to network fault became the most important task, and the updating of network performance is another important task. The experience says that there's more layer 3 and upper layer problems in current network.A system monitoring the status of the network is designed, include collection of the data flow information, analyze the data flow information and network topology discovery.First task is chosen a data flow information collection technology. A Collector is designed to collect the data flow information using the Cisco NetFlow Data technology.Network topology discovery and data forwarding path discovery including Layer-3 topology discovery, layer-2 topology discovery and Layer 3 based switching topology discovery are discussed. The network forwarding delay, device status is monitored on the data forwarding path, and useful information are given to the administrators.In the last chapter, a flow chart of network trouble shooting is suggested and some limitation of this system is discussed.
