Grid is a new research field in computer technology, which is the infrastructure of the next Internet and the key technology of the information society in the future. There are lots of studies and developments in many countries, organizations and corporations. Many applications of Grid emerge from practices in laboratory. At present, IPv6 (CERNET2), a new type of Internet, is built in China. It is a great chance for the applications and developments of Grid. Following the tide of development of Grid, Video information service which is innovated by Grid technology must meet the requests of clients. In this paper, the Information Grid has been anatomized, and a new model of video information service is given. The requests of clients can be put into the model any time and any places, and can be satisfied these requests any time. In general, the old models of video system are heterogeneous, unshared, expensive, and insecure. Thus, the development of video information service is impeded, and it is difficult for clients to use .The new model has overcome these disadvantages. The framework of the video information service system has been analyzed and the key policies and technologies of it are explored in the paper. At first, the concepts, traits and sorts of grid have been analyzed. Especially, the functions of the Open Grid Service Architecture (OGSA) and implements of grid service are studied in detail. Then, the Information Grid Service is built and deployed. Secondly, several typical video processing systems at present are analyzed, and the traits and functions of them are listed. Furthermore, a new architecture of video processing system based on Information Grid technology is built, and the function of each part of the architecture is explored in detail, such as Resource Management, Information Service, and Information Security of the system, and so on. Moreover, the policies of resource scheduling, dada storage and access, and security infrastructure and access control are discussed. At last, an implement of the system is put out, which is based on Globus Toolkits. Many applications are given in the paper, and they can give samples of the system.
