These years, computer network technology has been developing very fast. Every part of our society has been benefit from this technology. Now we are entering an information era. In the computer network world, TCP/IP protocols have been the standard in fact. But we know it has reasons. At beginning of the networks development, computer networks just been studied as an academical topic, and its main applications were used to transfer common data. At the same time, the hardware and software were both not advanced, so the architecture were been designed as the layers, for it can simplify the complex of the design. Layers have the functions of encapsulation, concealment, abstraction. Many layers work together to realize complex function. But this kind of architecture may be competent for narrow-band based text data transfer. When broad-band applications have become the main application of the computer network like Multimedia application, technologies like quality of service (QoS), network security have been emphasized. Some new protocols as RSVP (resources reserved protocol), RTP (real time protocol), IEEE802.1D, MPLS (multiple protocols label switching) have appeared. But these protocols act as mends in the TCP/IP protocols, and add the complication and redundancy to the architecture. Many new computer network archictectures have emergenced these years. Our lab has proposed a new architecture named as Service Unit based Network Architecture, and we have realized the first model based this architecture theory named Micro-communication Element Architecture. After discussing IP QoS technology and analyzing the mechanism of QoS in Linux, we have established the QoS model in the mainframe nodes, and add some necessary mechanism to release this model. This thesis is part of the Service Unit based Architecture theory. It mainly concerns how to realize the QoS mechanism in mainframe nodes based on the Service Unit concept. This thesis only discusses a few QoS mechanism in network nodes. If you interest in that topic, please refer pertinent papers.
