With the development of broadband communication technology, Especially the maturation of DWDM technology, the bandwidth of the network become more broad and the channel become more reliable. The primary protocol can not meet the tendency very well. Furthermore, as the demand of consumer for network resource become more diversification, it is necessary to meet such demand more perfectly by modifying the network architecture and protocol that has been exited. At the present time, the practical network structures are all layered architecture, and TCP/IP dominates the Internet. TCP/IP was developed for narrowband text transfer. To meet the demand for broadband transfer, TCP/IP is modified unceasingly. At the same time, many research works for network architecture are carried out. This dissertation introduces a new type network architecture: the service unit based network architecture (SUNA). This project aims to implement the micro-communication element system (MCES), the first network system under the SUNA framework, into the Linux platform. The implementation of MCES architecture is presented in this dissertation with detail, including general and module design. And besides, emphasis has been put on the design and implementation of the service unit of network interface controller (NIC) in the MCES architecture. This dissertation expatiates on the design and implement about the service unit of NIC detailed, and expands its function by adding the module to support the quality of service (QoS).Together with the others, the service unit of NIC provide the guarantee for the QoS of the whole network, by priority queueing and traffic shaping. besides this we put forward the scheme about the security of host. At last, by analyzing the...
