In these years, along with the rapid development of computer technology, the application of computer has become more and more wide in various fields. Now, one can control remotely any devices connected to network by the network technology, monitor the operating devices, and running devices with a computer in the office.Web server and SNMP are the two most popular network management methods.SNMP is growing fast because of its outstanding simplicity and good expansibility. It gets much support from many manufactures and becomes actually the standard for network management protocol.In first two chapters, the thesis firstly introduces embedded system and SNMP. In chapter 3, an embedded web server based on RABBIT 2000 microprocessor without OS is described. Users can control device through an internet explorer.In chapter 4, 5, and 6, detail technical specifications of the design and implement for a SNMP agent are discussed. UCLINX OS and ARM7TDMI microprocessor are applied in the corresponding system. The developing environment, the developing procedure, the design and debugging of hardware, and the design and parts of software are also presented.The cost of the system presented is quite low because we use the free UCD_SNMP package to develop SNMP agent and use the free UCLINUX as the embedded OS, which has a good performance like commercial ones. The above design procedure is suitable for those applications sensitive to cost.
