Integrated System For Spatial Data Warehouse Research

Nowadays, there are an emergence of spatial data store in several and heterogeneous DBMSs ( Database Manage System ) ,mostly in GISs (Geographical Information System) .The diversity of GIS and their own data models make it difficult to apply spatial information sharing. Therefore, many of the spatial information resource can't be used. It is a huge waste and disadvantage to the development of spatial information. The need to share these resources is becoming necessary in spatial information field.Data Warehouse is an original idea in organizing data in the latest twenty years.That before,the heterogeneous,self-maintained and distributed data resources had led to a bottleneck between the resources and the users.Data Warehouse has become an important strategy to integrate heterogeneous data source and to enable the high performance of querying and analytic processing.When it comes to a spatial information environment,there will be an architecture of Spatial Data Warehouse ( SDW) .The problem of sharing spatial information can be resolved easily in it.However, it is hard to apply the spatial information into the Data Warehouse architecture because of the feature of spatial data.A spatial driver layer is setup in the Data Warhouse or DBMS.Although this layer manages spatial data well within the Data Warehouse or DBMS,it can not work thoughout the architecture.In more detail,the integration of spatial data before entering SDW is an important step and should be token care of.For example,the differences of spatial data models in different sources,the metadata information such as Coordinate Reference System,scale , precision and etc ,and the spatial data transformation and cleanning methods should be considered in this step.Yet there is no more special system to do this work.This paper was introduced a prototype of spatial information integration system for SDW by combining the information integration technology and spatial data. It provides a model framework for designing the integration scenarios and builds a standard metadata to describ it.The system acts on the metadata and proforms the task.We will show how the specificities of the system contribute to the model-driven and integrate the spatial data. MeanWhile, in the case of Spatial In Publishing and Serving Platform For GuangDong Province "ClearingHouse" , this integrationsystem plays an important effect on it and provides to be feasible and operable.
