With the rapid development of the computer and network technology,medical digital image communication is a new cross-subject based on computer network and medicine. DICOM(Digital Imaging Communication in Medicine) is a typical symbol of this marriage,which is a hybrid application of computer,network,digital signal processing and storage technology.The content of recent DICOM standard is very complicated. Standard technical documents are studied and implemented in this paper from two aspects: information structure and communication protocol. This achievement meets the requirement of the development of medical field within country while keeping up with international level.Objected-Oriented technology is adopted in the implementation of the DICOM standard by encapsulated DICOM image information class and function,which optimizes the structure of the software. Based on the communication criterion,three services: C-FIND,C-MOVE,C-GET are implemented with windows fashion. However, these services are not taken into application in literature and related field before that.In addition,the applications such as information explorer,image compressor and format convertor are developed in this paper. Furthermore,these applications are combined with communication software,which have been used in PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication Systems)with satisfactory results.
