6PE was a transition technology from IPV4 to IPV6 in order to connect IPV6 islands. It can make IPV6 over MPLS/IPV4. During the trip, IPV6 data was transferred by V6 CE to PE which ran the dual stack while V4/V6 was identified. And then, IPV6 stream was encapsulated using two layers of labels by 6PE router. The first label was assigned by LDP that the v6 data was carried to lookup IPV4 routing. The second label informed the system how to configure IPV6 address at gateway router. MP-BGP achieved the main goal.MPLS had not been influenced on itself including its various services. At the same time, the invested capital was as low as possible when IPV6 was over MPLS/IPV4. So the strategy would supply the IPV4 MPLS functions. For example MPLS/VPN, MPLS/QOS, MPLS/TE, ATM+IP SWITCHING, L2 services (AToM. EoMPLS) . In addition, clients can share IPV6 services. On the other hand, P router did not need to be updated to support IPV6. Thus, as for ipv6 and ipv4, 6PE provided the same ability, flexibility, expansibility of MPLS. However, the huge number of IPV6 committed services was beyond 6PE performance. What is more, there was not interoperation between IPV4 and IPV6.The paper solved these critical questions as followed:Firstly: based on IPv6 Aggregatable Global Unicast Address, routing algorithm for IPV6 was represented. According to routing information from http://www.6bone.net. the steady and flexible data structure was designed in this paper.Secondly: Session of ingress 6PE and egress 6PE by MP-BGP was proved. It brought the theory into the practice.Finally: Programed MPLS LDP explained how to work. It is clear and profound in this way. On the other hand, the relative technologies was also explained.IPV6 network will be a mainstream in the future. Nowadays, compared with IPV4 users (200 million), IPV6 users are far less and no unique application. Therefore, it is unavoidable that IPV4 and IPV6 coexist for a long time. The relative technologies about how to transferred IPV4 to IPV6 is presented. By describintg and analysing kinds of transition technologies, 6PE is chosed andstudied in this paper for it has bright future, such as 6VPE, IPV6 services.TE .
