In modern radar, the working period of radar becomes more and more short and the data stream disposed is more and more large, so this is an austere challenge for the computer which is to use PC as the console of echo data processing and radar works. For the computer which is very austere in the processing time, it's nearly impossible to achieve synchronously the fast processing of data and real-time control of radar, thus it's necessary to design a system that can realize radar real-time control between data processing computer and subsystems of radar. This dissertation develops radar central controller based on Cyclone FPGA of Altera company, combinning with the practical requirement of some LFMCW radar system. the work of the dissertation covers scheme design, software realization, the hardware development, the system unit debug, etc. The main contribution of this dissertation can be listed as following:1)designing the scheme of the central controller; 2)accomplishing VHDL programming and simulation of serial communication module, the wave generator module, the data preprocessed module, DSP link interface communicating module; 3) designing the principle circuit of the central controller, meanwhile, designing and protracting the PCB; 4) debugging and testing the hardware circuit of the central controller; 5) realizing the unit debug and test of among the central controller, the wave generator, the signal processing board. From above work, the main results of the dissertation indicate the central controller accords with the requirements of radar system on function, in addition, the indexes tested satisfy the needs of the item.
