The communication system is the nerve center of radar system to coordinate the work of various subsystems. It mainly takes charge of receiving control command issued by computer terminal, and achieves the control of various subsystems after parsing the command. At the same time, it collects the work status and fault status information of various subsystems, and makes such information sent to the computer terminal in order to achieve the purpose of monitoring various subsystems. Also it sends high-speed radar echo data returned by signal processing system to terminal computer in order to display the location of target in real time.As the radar communication system needs to communicate with multiple terminals, the use of serial communication can not meet the demand. Therefore, the design of radar communication system with a strong real-time, high reliability, simple connectivity and easy-to-network is of great significance. Using the Ethernet communication is the best option. This paper first introduces the hierarchy of TCP/IP protocol stack and the performance characteristics of each protocol layer, then discusses the hardware design of Ethernet interface based on the chip called W5300 which integrates TCP/IP protocol stack, as well as using FPGA to control W5300 to realize the Ethernet communication between W5300 and terminal computer, and designing a serial communication module to realize serial communication with various subsystems. Finally, the system test results are given. Test results show that the system meets the expected requirements, and works stably and reliably.
