Following the development of the Internet, Broadband Access technology has become imperative. Now, the popular Broadband Access technology is xDSL, Cable Modem, Ethernet direct enter etc. In xDSL family, the VDSL has the very higher data rates. Its downstream and upstream rates can up to 13Mbps at the same time, and holds more lot in the Broadband Access market. My company empolder the VDSL equipment according to the demanding of market, I direct the designing of VDSL Modem, and accomplish this thesis according as my work.The aim of my thesis is expatiate how to empolder and design the VDSL Modem equipment. The equipment can be divided into two kind of Modem according as setup of chip and different component : One is Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), it's main purpose is connect to CO equipment of VDSL via unshielded twisted paired, composing a VDSL Broadband net; The another modem is Central Office (CO), it's main purpose is composing point to point connect with CPE Modem, realizing Ethernet frame transmit via line(UTP).The investigate means of this item is using 10BaseS solutions of Infineon Co. in Germany. At same time, it design appropriate hardware electrocircuit and manipulative program according as function requirement. The 10BaseS is a chipset solutions which transmit Ethernet frame on line using VDSL technology. Both CO and CPE equipment's all exit signal with this scheme is Ethernet frame, the 10BaseS chipset conversion the Ethernet frame to VDSL frame, and modulate to analog signals so that can transmit signals on line.The item's finally production of CPE and CO Modem have succeeded and passed testing. It can transmit to 1.6km farthest when the downstream and upstream rate is 4M/1Mbps, when the downstream and upstream rate is 15M/15Mbps, it can transmit to 1.2km farthest, the equipment achieve require of design.In structure, my thesis start at function requirement of two equipment. then, for pivotal chip, expatiate the mechanism, method of demand, elect and design of assistant circuit, SCH and PCB design of full circuit, the requirement, design, function of control program, and testing way, finally fruit, referenced cost of equipment, and so on. It contain all content of the equipment's design.
