With the fast development of telecommunication and Internet, VDSL technologyis becoming a research focus in communication field. A VDSL system of two-levelswitch based on 1000BaseS chipset Infineon Company is discussed in the thesis.Firstly, the features of VDSL technology was introduced generally and theReed-Solomon coding method and QAM/DMT modulating technology are depictedin detail then. Secondly, the architecture of hardware and operation mechanism ofsystem are described, the focus is on the design of sub-system comprised of L2/3main control board, user access board, environment detecting board and CPE board.Thirdly, the software function, architecture and procedure of main control board anduser control board were given. Final is the capability and function testing of the wholeVDSL system with the comparison to the relative VDSL specification of China. In the system design, 1000BaseS chipset based on QAM modulation technologyare selected as the VDSL physical level access solution of user control board and CPEboard. The L64324 of LSI Semi is the control chip of L2 switch controller. CXE1000of SwitchCore and MPC860 of Motorola are used for the control of L2/3 switch.CPLD controller is responsible to the control of the outside band management channelbetween main control board and user control board in the design. The two parts ofsoftware system located in main control board and user control board are completedindependently by means of the TMS total frame of WindRiver. Profit from thehigh-quality schematic layout design and steady software design, the system satisfiedthe VDSL standard of China in every aspect of system function, capability andmanagement requirements.
