With the rapid development of Internet, many broadband access technologies are developed. Many companies regard the user access bottleneck as the last mile project. It is the focus of Internet access competition. xDSL and Ethernet technology are the fastest developed technology. xDSL uses dual twisted line as carrier to connect Internet. It has the advantage of less engineering and easy service and become the main technology in the Internet access competition. VDSL(Very high bit rate Digital Subscriber Line)is the latest and fast developed one. VDSL access can satisfy user's demand for high broadband. It can use existing telephone line to connect Internet without new wiring. We develop a new VDSL equipment GDI-NET2000. It can satisfy every performance and management requirement of national standards. My paper describes the research and development of GDI-NET2000. GDI-NET2000 includes VDSL-CO and VDSL-CPE and the network management system. In the last year, I learn the principle and management construction of VDSL. After careful comparing many VDSL transfers chipset and Ethernet exchange chipset, I choose the 10base_S long distance transfer scheme (BCM6315 chipset and BCM6316 chipset group) of Broadcom Company and Ethernet exchange scheme (VT6150 network exchange control chipset) of Atlantic family series. VT6150 provides 8 10/100M switching ports and 2 gigabit exchange Ethernet ports. I design the total hardware system. It includes the system composition, the schematic diagram of every board and PCB. The schematic diagram of circuit board and PCB are finished using protel software. I test the total software and hardware VDSL system to make it stably work and satisfy the national standards of VDSL. I develop the network management system based on GUI. The project adds a new broadband access business for my company and provides good economic returns. It also promotes the VDSL technology development of our country. My main work includes: 1) To design the total scheme of VDSL system. To choose the 10base_S long distance transfer scheme of Broadcom Company (BCM6315 and BCM6316 chipset group). It can use existing telephone line to implement 10Mbps high-speed symmetric transfer within 1.2Km. The chipset group is a single line transfer and its cost is low. The power supply module was bought from other company to save development time. 2) To draw the schematic diagram and PCB of control board, user board, back board and user terminal VCPE board. 3) To test every single board's hardware and software and the total system. 4) To design the GDI-NET2000 network management software based on GUI. 5) To build an artificial simulation environment to test the connection of VDSL-CO and VDSL-CPE. To make them satisfy the national standards on transfer distance and rate. 6)To build a broadband access network using GDI-NET2000 as the main equipment. It works stably and has good economic returns. The total scheme of the paper is scheduled as the following: The first two chapters is the part one. It is the base part. It introduces the background and the technology principle. Chapter one introduces the development background of VDSLbroadband access equipment GDI-NET2000 and the main concept of the paper. Chapter two introduces the principle of xDSL and detailed VDSL standards. It includes VDSL system model, transfer mode duplex mode and noise environment. Chapter three and Chapter four is the par two of the paper. It describes every key part of the system and test and application. Chapter three describes the hardware design and its function. It includes the system design, chipset description, and function of control board, circuit board, VCPE board and back board. Chapter four describes the design and function of the network management software. It includes function and network element of fault management, configuration management, topology management, accounting management and security management. Chapter 5 describes the test result of GDI-NET2000 regulated by national Ethernet standards and real Internet access application Part three is the end statement of my paper. It generalizes my work and points out some shortage and improvement thought.
