With the rapid development of information storing and spreading, "digital technology" get extensive application in all kinds of fields, "digital literature", the new literature carrier form is developing rapidly, as the important place of literature and information, library must use digital technology to store and transform information.In this paper, we discussed the metadata standard in our country and the world. Consequently the structure and application of some metadata standard in library information area, for example, MARC, CCFC, Dublin Core, were introduced. Dublin Core is a valid metadata standard to describe information resource in Web. And the XML, a popular universal language in the Web, is characterised by nicer data storage, good expansibility, highly structured format, suitable for transportation in net. Therefore it is a fire-new scheme to describe Dublin Core with XML.We also put forward two digital thesis metadata exchange method. Transmitting thesis and dissertation of CCFC format to actualize data share and exchange is one. Partitioning metadata of Dublin Core type described by XML automaticly based on OAI protocol is another. The author realized the conversion between CCFC metadata and database format via elaborate analysis of CCFC. In addition , we bring forward the method of releasing thesis and dissertation metadata based on OAI protocol, and actualized the releasing of thesis and dissertation metadata based on OAI and XML in our project. At last, we established the thesis and dissertation Database system of DLUT and validated idiographic method.
