Plant, as an important part of the nature, is closely related to our life. Along with the research and development of fractal, simulation of plant has become a hot topic. Simulation of plant plays an important role in artificial intelligence, computer game, virtual reality, CAI, agriculture and forestry research etc., and has had a wide application in these areas.This article makes a deep research on the definite 1-system, stochastic 1-system, parametric 1-system, context 1-system, open 1-system, and integrates other extension of symbol interpretation. It makes exploratory research on the relationship between plant and environment on the basis of open 1-system. It also makes a basic research on the information transfer between plant interior and plant exterior. Then it gives a computer program to demonstrate the simulation of plant. The program is developed by VC++6.0, using the stand graphic programming interface OpenGL. On the other hand, the drawing part of the program applies the technology of illumination and texture mapping, taking into account some nature phenomena such as random natural factor and phototropism. The plant, generated by the program, thus is three-dimensional, vivid, and accord with natural law.This article finds out the natural intelligence ingredient in the growing process of plant by means of computer simulation of plant growth based on computer graphic technology. Consequently it has guidance and suggestion meaning to the study of AI and artificial life. At the same time the research of this article helps to discover a natural principle: a seemingly complicated natural phenomenon contains simple rules.
