USB2.0 (Universal Serial Bus) is nowadays becoming a standard of the personal computer peripheral interface, due to that, lots of novel devices emerged , such as mobile hard disk, flash memory etc. However, the key technology of USB2.0 interface is only possessed by a few companies abroad such as Intel, Philips, while blank in China. To meet the market requirement and boost the ability of IC design, we are stringent to develop our own USB2.0 interface chip. The transceiver interface circuit in this dissertation is the most important part of USB2.0 interface which is a high speed mixed signal circuit, and it is realized by TSMC 0.25um mixed CMOS process technology.Chapter one introduces the recent development of USB2.0 and the overall architecture of transceiver interface; Chapter two proposes the design flow and design style; Chapter three presents the whole system and module partition; Chapter four emphasizes on the dual-mode transmitter circuit, and gives out the simulation waveforms; Chapter five focuses on the design of over-sampling receiver and DLL (Delay Locked Loop) module; Chapter six designs the band-gap reference circuit. In the end, it concludes the design, and estimates the trend of USB.The dissertation is emphasized on dual-mode transmitter architecture , implementation of high speed DLL using DBA(digital-based analog) technology and a new design methodology for complex digital modules in mixed-signal circuit. The dual mode transmitter can be configured in voltage mode supporting 12Mbp/s data rate or current mode supporting 480Mbp/s data rate. It reduces greatly the chip area resulting from this architecture.DBA design is to design the most part of circuit with digital arithmetic, leaving behind a few analog circuit. DBA design can enhance the DLL circuit's robustness and minimize the clock jitter. It also avoids the difficulty of analog parameter design and process control. The new design methodology for complex digital module in mixed signal circuit realizes a real design automation. It can shorten the design cycle and make the circuithave a competitive performance with the full-customed circuit. The chip in this dissertation has been taped out in ICC, shanghai. The test results revealed that the circuit architecture is robust and all parameters are in accordance with USB2.0 requirements.
