With the design and research on super server,mass data storage and high performance calculation is solved. It uses ISCSI and TCP/IP protocol to store network data.The emphases of the paper is the blade design of super server.Using FPGA chip of Xilinx company,the paper has completed the data transmission between Intel 21154 PCI bridge and flash chip. Based on the PCI procotol ,the paper has completed PCI IP kernel.And also, the PCI target device can access three address space (configuration space\ memory space and I/O space) .Because every Blade has no hard disk ,the Blade is started according to the target server. The Blade uses Intel network card to connect the target server.For the sake of receiving OS data from the target server, Intel network card has to be initialized before receiving data. The paper uses intel 21154 PCI bridge , FPGA(Xilinx company) and Flash to finish the function.The driver software is written into the Flash. When the Blade is started ,the driver software is loaded in the system memory to finish the initialization and driving of the intel network card. Hence the Blade can receive OS data from the target server. Because the PCI bridge is PCI local bus, while Flash is standard bus ,the conversion between PCI bridge and Flash is a difficult problem. According to the test ,the project is useful and feasible.The design is used in the S series super server.And also the super server has tested for five months .we can find the super server is stable and strong .The paper uses ISE5.2 and Modelsim Xe5.6 software platform to complete the FPGA design. ISE5.2 can finish the edit, translation, emulation wire layout mapping and download of Verilog code. ModelsimXe5.6 can finish the emulation of the function and time delay.
