Bsim4.5 is a mosfet model,which is described in C language,and is used for transistor level circuit simulation.To convert it into VA form, can simplify the input output data process between the simulator and the model,and unify the interface functions between these two.The Bsim4.5 C language model contains two types of interface data, the model parameters input data,the output data of currents and capacitances,and two types of interface function groups,the parameters input interface function groups,the evaluation output interface function groups.By converting these two types of data and two types of interface function groups into VA form,without changing any core formula evaluations inside the model,this paper has implemented the conversion from Bsim4.5 C model into VA module.Meanwhile,this paper has also researched the method that updating Bsim4.3 VA module into 4.5,based on the current mature Bsim4.3 VA module, and according by the different between 4.5 and 4.3.The comparison testing is,using HSPICE as the simulator for testing, loading both C model and VA module of Bsim4.5,along with VA module of mature Bsim4.3,to run testing netlists.The testing netlists include, single mosfet circuit,inverter chain circuit,oscillator circuit,four bits carried adder circuit.By comparing the test results of these models, the accuracy and the performance of VA model can approach those of C model, and exactly match to those of 4.3 VA module.Therefore,the BSIM4.5 VA module developed in this paper has implemented the conversion from C model. The improvement and optimization of VA model,along with its usage in transistor level circuit simulation are all easier than those of C model.
