Digital Television Broadcasting System, Multiplexing / Demultiplexing The Realization

MPEG-2 is an international standard about digital motion picture and audio signalizing for using in telecomunication, broadcasting ,storage media and computer field established by ISO/IEC[1],[2].HDTV (High Definition Television) technology integrates the most advanced image compression encoding technology and the digital communication technology, which is representative of the third generation television. It has become one of the focuses in the high-tech competitions. Having the initiative in this field will take the lead of high technology in the future and get great chance in the growing market.DVB/MPEG-2 transport stream multiplexer/demultiplex takes an important role in digital video broadcasting system. It can combine several transport streams from source encoder into a single transport stream to transport channel, or demultiplex trasnsport stream into one program sorce to source decoder. Its performance has a great influence on the program transmission ability of HDTV system and the decoding quality of decoder in HDTV receiver.MPEG-2 system multiplexer signalized video,audio,host data and so on to fixed length packet type for making transport stream.This thesis introduce the pricipal of transport stream multiplexing/demultiplexing which is based on MPEG-2/DVB sysytem specfications for broadcasting,and discuss the implementation algorithms of transport stream multiplexer,and describe design and implememtation . The main contents of this thesis are at a glance:Chapter 1 gives a brief survey on principle and development of digital TV system and HDTV system, respectively. And introduce the development of Digital signal processing.Chapter 2 gives an overview of DVB and MPEG-2 transmission standards in digital video system.Chapter 3 describes PSI (Program Specific Information) in the MPEG-2 standard and SI(Service information) in the DVB standard.Chapter 4 discusses the principle of multiplexer/remultiplexer, and focuses on two key technologies in the process of muletiplexing/demultiplexing.Chapter 5 give a implementation of system multiplexer which based on DSP and FPGA, and describe the hardware strcture and software flow in detail.
