This article started with research on several main design models-SequentialProcess Model, Concurrent Design Model and Dynamic Process Model, and focused on the functions and model of the Collaborative Design which is part of the Concurrent Project. Then the author concentrated on the Internet Based Collaborative Design, and brought forth Asynchronous Collaborative Design and Real time Collaborative Design two solutions. In Asynchronous Collaborative Design Model, the system model structure, system setting and analysissitus structure were provided. With the theoretical foundation, author successfully built up a Drawing Center and a Bulletin Board System through HTML, CSS, ASP and Web Database techniques. While in Real Time Collaborative Model, this article introduced an unprecedented method to realize synchronous design-"Real Time Design System." Which put the major calculating and graphic display job on the Client ends, only transfer a few parameters though networks. By this way, the system greatly reduced the volume of data transported through networks and ensure a simultaneous graphics display at all Client ends, so make real time collaborative design possible and feasible. In order to prove this method is applicable not only in simple graphic drawing but also in complicated machine parts design, through building up gear mathematic model, researching on gear design in routine way, and with the help of OpenGL, author realized the gear real time collaborative design with great success, in which 3-demensions solid model as well as 2-demensions Drawing are available. This article proved this Real time Collaborative Design Model is a wonderful solution.
