In order to improve the level of products in TQCSE, this paper analyzes some new concepts in modern methods of product development, and presents the concept of the Internet-based Collaborative Design Oriented Concurrent Engineering. The architecture of the Internet-based Collaborative Design Oriented Concurrent Engineering and the required key technologies are probed into in this paper. Furthermore, we deeply research the technology of product data modeling, the virtual reality technology on network, the cooperate environment, the mechanism of cooperate design and the technology of Virtual Part Library. We set up the Virtual R&D, which is the based platform of the Internet-based Collaborative Design. On this platform, we develop the virtual reality technology on Internet by using VRML (virtual reality modeling language) and JAVA. The cooperative environment based on Web and the collaborative virtual environment provides the power support of cooperative design. We also put forward a new idea about an object-oriented model of product development, and carry out the cooperative design of the shaft parts based on VRML. On this base, the principle and the implementation of virtual part library are given, and the virtual part library of parametric design of rolling-contact bearing can be established.
