Auto-test System of high speed, real precision, multi parameter and abundant function is the production of electronic-test technology, automation and the science of computer. IEEE-488.2 protocol has been developing for twenty years after it was assigned international standard in 1979. It is used in many field such as communication, radar, course-control , medical treatment, environment protection more and more widely. These years VXI and PXI instrument bus has also been set international standard, but they can't substitute GPBI bus. In addition, with the function of all kinds of GPIB control chip become more and more useful and the data convey more quickly, the use of GPIB become wider than any time.AISC technology is used in many field with the development of integrate circuit these years. With the age of SOC coming, ASIC component of FPGA/CPLD can satisfy the require of design of SOC , what' more , it has the special virtue of programming in system . Especially the FPGA of high speed, great density and excellent capability is becoming the key part in system. So the appliance of system on a programmable chip is becoming more and more far-ranging. With the development of ASIC, many electronic design software such as MUXLUSS , MODERSIM and SYPLIFY become popular . Muxpluss centralizes the function of edit, synthesis and emulator; MODERSIM has the single function of emulator ,but it's function is very strong. SYNPLIFY is only use to synthesis, from which we can get the gate-lever circuitThe author comes out the idea of design the GPIB control chip using ASIC technology by referring to quantities of technical book, the research of integrate circuit's development in the world and the fact of our staff room. There are also some examples of using ASIC to design GPIB control chip such as the company of Agilent and NI. In the character, I only describe the PGIB bus to the point. The emphasis is how to use FPGA to design the IEEE-488.2 protocol. There are three important aspects in the IC Design. First , the design of state machine ; second , the design of data channel;last: the design of the store module . According to the previous requirement, I use the standard language-Verilog to design the program, and verify it with Modersim after it is synthesized by Synplify. With the IP CORE of IEEE-488.2 protocol and the next research , we can make control chip of ourselves' and use it in the interface card of INTERNAT-GPIB and USB-GPIB.
