Virtual Reality has been widely used in the fields such as flying simulation, interactive GIS, virtual touring, digital earth, information visualization, architecture walkthrough, etc. These application need not only realism complex Virtual Environment, but require the user can interact with the virtual scene at interaction frame rate.As long as meeting the real-time rendering, the user can feel the virtual environment is the same as the real world and immerse into the environment However, Virtual reality communities and other visualizations have always faced the problem that their "desirable"visualization dataset sizes are one or more orders of magnitude lager than what the hardware can display at interactive rates. Thus we need resolve problem by attempts to bridge the gap between the desired and the actual hardware performance, through algorithmic and software techniques. The most critical problem in VR is real-time rendering the complex Virtual Environment. The visualization technology in real-time and distributed simulation is a crucial technology, this study has theory significance and works utility value. This paper has researched mainly key technology in real-time visualization, including the feature of visualization in real-time and distributed environment, 3D modeling and the real-time display of real graphics, in detailed as follows: (1) It analyses the features and demands of visualization technology of simulation in real-time and distributed environment and gives the plan of realization, it also defined a feasible software develop environment. (2) The 3D Object modeling methods and the technology of geometry modeling in VRML and JAVA3D are studied in this paper; the complex 3D scenery is constructed by utilizing the technology of VRML and JAVA3D. (3) This paper studied some related theory and methods with real graphics, including the drawing of real terrain and the real-time display of 3D graphics. (4) This paper studied the display of special effects, including the real-time collision detection, the simulation of real-time battlefield flame and the shadow...
