Virtual reality(VR) and computer simulation(CS) are two popular technologies in the field of the computer application today. They are widely used in building virtual battlefield environment, reappearing the real environment of the researched region, and foreseeing the combat course. In this paper, some application studies about VR and CS and their correlated principles are done, and a tactics missile's battlefield environment simulation system is completed according to the need of the recent battlefield.(1) Discusses the pretreatment method of fundamental data in the Battlefield Environment Simulation System, especially a method of compressing vector data.(2) Discusses the way of obtaining the 3D coordinates that does the preparative work about the virtual environment 3D showing.(3) Gives some ways of simulation modeling technology, and constructs the battlefield simulation environment based on the thought of Multigen modeling.(4) Introduces the fundamental theory of simulation software Vega and it's main API Lib and introduces two methods-fence mode and cache-mapping-file to solve the problem in the battlefield simulation environment real-time rendering. Two key technologies-AOI and dynamic data schedule strategy are presented to solve the problem of LADBM.(5) Develops a tactics missile's battlefield environment simulation system on PC platform. It is proved in practice that all demands of combats and exercitations of tactics missiles have been met by the system with constructing large 3D virtual battlefield environments and various moving entities, choosing or controlling eyepoints of the battlefield environments about the simulation requirement, and rendering in real-time.
