The technique of mobile communication is key to interview between embedded systems and traditional PCs. And it will soon contribute to share all the network resource used by mobile terminal. With the higher hardware performance and the lower hardware costs, people bring forward more desire for the mobile communication system. This paper discusses how to design and implement such a system between the palmtop device and the desktop platform with CORB A component technology.Software component technology has been focused these years. The basic idea is to decompose large and complicated software into a serial of software unit that could be realized at first, apt to develop, understand and adjust, which is also called components. Having a good efficiency and reusability this solving software based on components is easy to be upgraded.Synchronization system is indispensable for the plamtop device to enhance its function, which supports data synchronization between the two platforms. This paper introduces a device-independent design model that is based on components and has nothing to do with the platform of operating system and individual applications. On the basis of the design philosophy of the components, synchronization system can be divided into Sync Manger and Sync Components ,each of them works according to uniform interfaces.This paper defines the Sync objects, explains component-program design method and how to tailor MIGO under Linux system, analyze the method of developing a mobile data communication system based on MICO and strategy of defining a sync object. Following the standard of status view provided by UML, we describe the status changes during the process of Sync and put forward the solution based on limited states machine.We implement Sync software between the palmtop computer based on embedded MICO and desktop system taking Outlook as PIM software according to the model of design. The Sync server component runs in MICO under Windows and the PDA works in embedded MICO under embedded Linux.
