With the development of component technology, the Component-Based Software Development (CBSD) has already been accepted widely. It becomes the effective way to tackle software crisis. Component assembly technology is the key of CBSD. In the old industrial standards of component, a component defines only the services it provides, and the required services of the component are hidden in its implementation. Thus, there are implicit dependencies between the components. The OMG released the CORBA 3.0 in August 2002. A component model is contained in CORBA 3.0, i.e. CORBA Component Model (CCM). In this model, a CORBA component defines not only the services it provides but also the services it required. So CORBA components can be assembled via their ports. At the same time, CCM inherits the advantages of other existing component models such as COM, EJB, and it takes full advantages of CORBA.Based on the research of CORBA Component Model and the related technology in the CCM assembly framework, this thesis explores the application of CCM-Based system development. The main work of this thesis as follows:(1) Research on the main features of CORBA Component Model.(2) Analyze the mechanism and the description methods of the component assembly based on CCM.(3) Discuss the design and implementation of assembly tools in CCM assembly framework.(4) Based on CCM, a prototype of real-time water-level alarming system is given.
