| In order to promote the reusability of software and simplify the development of server-side application, the distributed component technology based on middleware is more and more widely used in enterprise's distributed applications. To reduce the training cost and boost the efficiency of development, enterprise applications make some critical requests to the platform of component technology. How to provide development tools for the developers which can shield the underlying details during the process of applications' development on the component technology platform becomes more and more important.CCM (CORBA Component Model) is a component technology based on CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) middleware platform. It is important and valuable project in practice to develop tools for CCM component technology platform to effectively fulfill the urgent requirement of develop efficiency and reliability.This paper designs a visual tool in charge of packaging and deployment in StarCCM platform. This tool is composed of three parts: Packaging Tool, Assembly Tool and Deployment Tool. The work in this paper is as follows:Firstly, this paper analyses the basic knowledge of component and CCM component and specifies the content and fundamentals of the package, assembling and deployment of component.Secondly, the framework of the visual packaging and deployment tool based on the abstract component model is brought forward. And in combination with the features of StarCCM, the Package Tool, the Assembling Tool and the Deployment Tool are designed concretely. Especially, component and assembly visualization is introduced and used in the design of the Assembling Tool. The architecture of deployment system in StarCCM is also designed in this paper.Finally, this paper describes the implementation of this visual packaging and deployment tool based on StarCCM, including the module partition and each module's implementation.
