Lonworks Network Technology Research

This paper starts with the application of intelligent control of residence zone, explains how to design a LonWorks node in details, including the design of software and hardware, with some successful examples. It also presents a series of way to connect LonWorks network with other networks and explains them with comparison. With a simple example, it introduces the DDE and the design of application software. Furthermore, this paper focuses on the EIA-709 standard, explains each layers of it at length, especially the predictive p-persistent CSMA, Request-Response with authentication etc, and compares EIA-709 with TCP/IP. Based on the above, the paper gives some techniques to use LonWorks much better: calculating the value of the timers, modifying the network image of a LonWorks node, designing a selfjnstalled node and constructing the LonWorks network without the tools such as LonMaker. Approved by the experiments, these techniques can reduce the expenditure of design and construction, solve the high_cost problem of LonWorks application, and also improve the flexibility of LonWorks at the same time.
