Along with the development of international trade and globalization, the ports are playing more and more important role in modern logistics, increasing the demands on port machinery. Additionally, the features of port machinery present the trendy to become huge-size, high-speed and automatic. To improve monitor status on port machinery and modernizes port management, this paper sets up a system of collecting and recording running parameters about port machinery.This system integrates the auto-measurement technology, the single chip microcomputer technology, fieldbus technology, data-base technology and network technology, and thus network monitor on port machinery's status will be achieved. The system consists of three parts: the spot parameter acquisition module, the data collection and storage subsystem, the data management subsystem. Through sensors installed on spots, the spot parameter acquisition module measures parameters about port machinery's operational status and acquires these parameters. Therefore, those data will be stored in memories as soon as the data collection and storage subsystem receives data transmitted from the spot parameter acquisition module. Further, wireless communication technology is applied in the data collection and storage subsystem, makes it available to communicate data management subsystem with wireless Ethernet. Then data are transmited from lower subsystem to data management subsystem. All running parameters for research purpose will be stored in data server of data management subsystem. This system emphasizes on real-time performance, and achieved the online monitor and control by applying network communication technology.This paper analyzes the monitor on port machinery, points out the meaning of the research, and introduces the system and every subsystem. It contains auto-measurement technology, C8051F040 SOC technology, CAN fieldbus technology, database technology, wireless communication technology and so on.
