This thesis begins with the problems which the most popular networked virtual environments systems (NVEs) assume. After analyzing all these questions,we point out that awareness plays an important role in the networked virtual environments. To realize efficient NVEs,it is necessary to use a flexible and integrated awareness model as a guiding model. So we analyze the characteristics of NVEs,discuss the specialties of human behaviors in the virtual environments. And after that we bring forward the AM-NEVEN,an Awareness Model for Networked Virtual ENvironments. The concept and the components of AM-NEVEN are presented to give a full comprehension of it. We define that the model is composed of Awareness Objects,Interactive Tasks,Location & AOI,and Awareness Levels. According to the content of the AM-NEVEN,we model for scene objects,and make static data models for Awareness Objects. Referring to these static data models,we can schedule and optimize the awareness information dynamically,which we call Dynamic Model. To make further understanding of the key technologies based on AM-NEVEN,we expatiate the method of awareness scheduling,and also we present a framework for the awareness scheduling,as well as the algorithms. At the end of this thesis,we show how to design such NVEs guided by AM-NEVEN,how it is constructed,what its network protocols are,and how the work flow is.The AM-NEVEN awareness model extends the traditional Spatial Model,and it describe awareness object more considerately from the requirements of the users' sense to virtual objects. The AM-NEVEN makes it possible to adjust the awareness information dynamically and optimize the visualization. On the other hand,the Interactive Tasks' description makes it more integral to include the awareness information of the NVE. The combination of static data models and awareness dynamic model facilitates the realization of networked virtual environments guided by AM-NEVEN. Moreover,in the static dynamic models of awareness objects,the mapping of the QoS and awareness of object provides the foundation of awareness scheduling. All of these listed above are the innovation of this thesis.
