Organization And Handling For The Ontology-based Awareness Information In The Collaborative Learning Environment

With the rapid development of the information technology, collaborative awareness is a very active research direction in CSCL (Computer Supported Collaborative Learning) field. It aims to solve the learner's "solitude" problem in the CSCL environment, to help the learner to share knowledge efficiently, communicate mutually, consequently to participate better in the collaborative learning.First, we introduce the research background of subject and the theory of CSCL, summarize the concept, sorts and models of collaborative awareness, and define the bottle-neck problems about the development of collaborative awareness. Then we import the concept of ontology and expatiate on the ontology modeling, the ontology description languages and the application fields. Moreover, the research production about the combination of collaborative awareness and ontology is also present.Then we introduce the organization model based on the knowledge space theory and analyze the awareness information in the CSCL environment. On the basis of them, the awareness ontology model in the CSCL environment is present, which includes the concepts and relations of participant, the concepts and relations of domain and the concepts and relations of event and activity. Besides, a method of KnowledgeDomain correlativity extraction based on the N-Grams is presented, which can extract the "hasrelativity" relation automatically and satisfy dynamic awareness processing.In the following, we introduce the concept of ontology reasoning, the SWRL (Semantic Web Rule Language), the characteristics of ontology reasoning and the framework of ontology reasoning engine, and present the awareness processing model based on ontology rule reasoning in the CSCL environment. The model includes two awareness processing methods: the common ontology rule reasoning and the individual ontology rule reasoning. The awaress processing example and the comparison with other works are also introduced.At last, basing on the awareness ontology model and awareness processing model based on the ontology rule reasoning, one ontology-based collaborative learning system is developed by some techniques and tools, and its whole design and implementing is introduced in detail. Additional, the running circumstance of system is also analyzed.
