The aim of computer aided process planning is to transform the part designed data to manufacturing data of process plan through the mechanism of decision making and the computer aided method. That is to produce an optimal process plan, and enhance the quick response ability of the enterprise to marked economy. In the computer integrated and the material flow. It is not only an efficient bridge of the integration of CAD and CAM, but also a key of realizing information integration of the engineering and product management. Based on the thought mentioned above, by analyzing the shortcoming of traditional CAPP system, studying the functional model, the information flow and information model of the product-oriented CAPP system, here presents functional model and the system structure of CAPP development flat. The flat accomplishes the integrated function of process planning and management through the design of a set of multi-function tools, such as product informational sub-flat, process-management sub-flat, process-planning sub-flat, and resource-management sub-flat, etc. The article gives emphasis to describing the primary technology of these sub-flats. For example, in Chapter 3, the author presents several technologies of process-management, such as working-flow management, process-files management, statistics, signature, purview and version management. Chapter 4 describes some skills about process-resource management, which includes the basic ideas and methods of Al-based process resource management. Chapter 5 makes research upon the technologies in process-planning sub-flat, such as resource-based and human-computer interactive process planning, cases-based reasoning process planning, rules-reasoning-based process planning and the building method of process drawings, etc. Then, by analyzing the condition of assemble process, the author introduces the FSDCAPP system, a application system of the plat, and gives a simple describe of each model of this system. Finally, in Chapter 7, the author comes to the conclusion that, first, the promotion and establishment of the product-oriented CAPP flat fund the science base for the research and development of CAPP system and will ultimately make more and more CAPP systems come into real use. Also, the future perspectives in CAPP and the further research of the topic are presented in the end of the article.
