Online Analytical Processing And Applications

On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) is a category of software technology that enables analysts, managers and executives to gain insight into data through fast, consistent, interactive access to a wide variety of possible views of information that has been transformed from raw data to reflect the real dimensionality of the enterprise as understood by the user.This paper, on the basis of the study of the architecture and the data model of OLAP and the technology of the data cube, introduces the realization of SEI_OLAP. In this section about SEI_OLAP's realization, this paper explains how to design the metadata and how to manage the metadata because the metadata is the kernel of the OLAP's operations, and how to gather the data in the different database system or in the different format, and how to realize these OLAP's standard operations, for examples, slice, dice, drill down, drill up and pivot etc. Finally, this paper concludes the advantages and disadvantages of the SEI_OLAP for which it gives some respects.
