The network media is a communication medium, which can communicate information by Internet. It rely on internet, using computers (including mobile computers), TV set or mobile telephone and etc. as terminal, transmitting digital information of news such as words, sounds, images and so on.The network media make substantial differences from conventional mass media: first, it carries out interpersonal communication, group communication and mass communication. So it's not only a mass media but also a minorities media and a personal media. Secondly, the network media complete mutual communication, and the one-way communication model,from media to viewers , is not the monopoly model again. Thirdly, the network media has all forms of conventional media and then it is really a multimedia. Furthermore, the network media has other characteristics such as huge capacity ; quickness ; no geographic limitations ; hyperlink; easy searching and so on.The network media imposes a big threat to the conventional newspapers. On one hand, it impact the consumer market of conventional newspaper . It is attracting more and more audiences and advertisements. On the other hand, the network media also challenges journalism practice of conventional newspaper : it makes conventional newspaper lose monopoly in news communication ; and it impacts the reporting system; it break the regionalization of news transmission; and it challenge the means of news gathering , editing and writing.Facing the competition from the network media, conventional newspaper will adapt to the new circumstances and become main media in information society . On the other side conventional newspaper will coexist with the network media and they will go together for a long time, especially under conditions of our country. Because conventional newspaper have some advantages which the network media can't substitute and meanwhile the network media would try to reach maturity and perfect. And in the network-age conventional newspaper will readjust itself to play a new role . (The end)...
