Along with the development of information industrial,the networks and the service on it are expanding,so we need high-speed routers urgently to switch increasing packets.So core router was developed,which can forward IP packets at line-speed,it supports several kinds of LAN connection including ATM.This paper focus on how to design Line card of router fitting for ATM networks with Verilog,and how to design and schedule packet,then implement it with FPGA.Firstly,according to the architecture of core router this paper analyse the difference between core router and traditional router. Secondly,the paper describe the principle of ATM network,and the function of'SAR"(Segmentation and Reassembly)and the format of packet AAL5,and introduce the basic idea of IPOA ,and the design project and implementing of the control chip.Later,the paper introduce the logic function and operational principle of packet buffer control chip and prove the feasibity and correctness of the arithmetic.At last the paper introduce CRC-32 arithmetic based on look up and implement it with hardware.
