A Multi-parameter Intelligent Environmental Monitora feasible environmental monitoring terminal system of the updated and advanced international technology, has been developed under the environmental protection objectives of the total amount control of pollutant discharge and on the basis of the present techniques as to the environmental monitor and supervision in our country. This updated universal monitor is the compound of a flow meter, a pollution treatment facility operation recorder, a pollutant indicators' collector and a adapter of general monitors, which is characteristic of intellectualization, networking and functional modularization with the modern techniques relevant to microprocessor, data communication and control network. In this paper, firstly, the key techniques concerned with the monitoring system of pollution sources are analyzed. Secondly, the function of the Monitor is positioned, and it's designed that a modularized hardware system, including the main control module, display and keypad module, dial control module and LonWorks control module, which adapts the cooperation of microprocessors. Thirdly, according to the working principles of serial peripheral interface SPI, it's advanced that the data communication of master-slave can be achieved through the I/O interfaces between modules by way of the software's following the SPI model, thus solving the problem of integrated system. Fourthly, the software consists of internal sealed operation system and monitoring procedure of PC. The basic principles of design are illustrated and the main flow charts and the interfaces are presented. Finally, the LonWorks techniques are introduced. The multi-parameter intelligent environmental monitor first internalizes the communication interface of LonWorks techniques, introducing the leading techniques of network control into the monitors in our country, which enables it to link seamlessly with the Intranet and Internet, therefore widens the prospect of exploration. This monitor provides convenient on-the-spot environmental control as well as local or remote timely monitor and examination of the history data through a computer, hence the scientific basis for the management of environmental protection departments and for the total amount control of pollutant discharge.
