In this thesis, a millimeter wave phase locked frequency synthesizer was reported. This task roots in a military micro_electronic project "The research on millimeter wave hybrid integrated technology? the purpose is to develop local oscillator source with stable and alterable frequency for translators on telecommunication satellites at millimeter wave. The phase locked and frequency multiplying scheme was used to realize the frequency synthesizer. In this thesis, the phase locked ioop theory was stated and the reason of phase noise in the phase locked frequency synthesizer was analyzed. Furthermore, the stability of the phase locked frequency synthesizer with alterable frequency was discussed. On the basis of these analyses, a millimeter wave phase locked loop frequency synthesizer was realized. The frequency synthesizer operates on 29GHz? 1GHz, with resolution of 20MHz, the phase noise of -6OdBc/HzTh 10KHz (30GHz). The development will be the technique basis of development of all_ solid_state, all integrated and all_coherent millimeter wave systems.
