The current media competition, under the new situation has not only stay on the transmission form, media, communication channels, such as level of competition, but extended to the business model and the other seeking common ground while putting aside differences, and many other aspects of the media.China’s newspaper industry started relatively late, and the domestic newspaper group from the official birth time just 10 years. In the new period, the reform of cultural system, the transformation of society, market opening, the development of technology, both for the development of the newspaper group has created a huge opportunity, also brings huge risk.A daily newspaper group(hereinafter referred to as A group) has been established, the comprehensive development of various undertakings have remarkable increase of economic strength. Currently, the development of A group is facing the international media giants to speed up the break into China’s media market, cross-regional operation increased local competition, new media impact is bigger and bigger challenges, such as A face at the same time countries further promote the reform of cultural system, encourage the newspaper group fast and stronger to do big and accelerated the development of A area big opportunity. A group, how to seize opportunities, meet the challenge, to speed up the development, the need for strategic planning seriously, in order to make clear development goals, key points of strategy and specific measures, to ensure the success of the leading group to.Strategic management theory and method is applied in this article, combined with the characteristics of A group’s development strategy design is studied. This article first to face the macro environment of A group, the use of PEST and five models are analyzed; Internal operation conditions are analyzed for A group, was evaluated using IFE matrix. To clear the threats and opportunities facing A group, competitive advantages and disadvantages, points out that, in general, A group of more opportunities than threats, advantages outweigh the disadvantage. And on this basis, established the SWOT matrix, puts forward A group’s strategic development goals and strategic direction, and formulated the strategic implementation measures.
