Limited by the funding and technology, the campus network of vocational schools has always been lagging. Many problems exist in establishing the campus network, such as inadequate coverage, obsolete equipment, unresponsive updating, and insufficient exit bandwidth, which results in the lower performance of the network, longer deferred access and poorer reliability, security and manageability of the network. Along with the continuous progression of national reform on education, occupation education is increasingly paid attention to. Therefore, the state increases the amount of fund put in those schools, and particularly, issues construction funding of informatization. The vocational education ushers a new spring of informatization construction.Presently, with the development of network technology, how to make the best use of the fund to build up a high-level campus network so as to satisfy the academies’ informatization demand and to solve the existing problems of the original networks is the assignments faced by the school builders. In order to establish an advanced campus network, we should build the network system, adopt the progressive design ideas, deploy scientific planning methods and devise the entire network according to the concept of top-layer design.The design of a network system is a complicated and enormous project, which can be generally divided into two stages:planning design and deepening design. Specific classification could be involved with many more detailed implementing designs, for example, designs of network system construction, function, performance, security, reliability, manageability, selection of network equipment, and system test, etc..In the background of the network construction in Kunming2nd Vocational School, this project focuses on constructing a network platform with superior performance, high stability and high security through utilizing related technologies. It will be conducted from aspects of the designs on the platform’s hierarchical structure, exit, address and security. This paper will discuss how to set up a highly efficient and stable network platform with routing technology, VLAN (virtual local area network) technology, address conversion technology for hiding addresses, topology technology for network structure planning, and network security technology.Via methods like virtual LAN division, convergence layer switch configuration, core layer switch configuration, firewall configuration, NAT configuration, router configuration, and WLAN configuration, and through test plan, it shows that the planned and achieved network platform has realized the expected effects.
