Becoming a volunteer is an important way for public to be involved in museum development. It can be predicted that more and more people will become museum volunteers with the development of public participation. However, the reduction of volunteers is becoming more and more serious. Therefore, it is necessary to consider that how to encourage volunteer’s work enthusiasm and maintain volunteer’s good impression about museum. The volunteer group of National Museum of China(NMC) is taken as a case, to investigate the methods NMC used to encourage volunteers. This study is conducted by interview and questionnaire. This study also analyze volunteer’s service motivation, demand and satisfaction about organization and their own development. This research argues that the incentives of NMC effectively encourage the volunteers’ enthusiasm. This kind of incentives can be called as "Rigid Incentives", which includes six sections:cultural incentive, mental incentive, authorization incentive, material incentive, model incentive, and negative incentive. This paper also points out the shortcomings of Rigid Incentives: it lacks smooth communication and emotional expression mechanism.
