Research And Implementation Of WebGIS Based On Open Source Software

In recent years. Geographical Information System (GIS) has achieved broad application and development. As a combination of traditional GIS and Internet technology, WebGIS lets geographical information system step into ordinary people’s work and life due to its advantages of global accessibility, popular engagement, low-cost, easy-to-use, good in extendibility and cross-platform, which has become the mainstream of GIS applications. Many GIS vendors have promoted WebGIS business software, which offers capabilities ranging from establishing spatial database to publishing spatial data services and front-end develop suits that are compatible with different platforms and devices.By far, the majority of WebGIS applications have adopted business GIS products and solutions, making it a huge burden to startups and social agencies that use WebGIS into production due to its high cost, closed code and weak extensibility. So there is a need to explore and find a low-cost and open-source way to construct WebGIS in order to fulfill their demands. Open source software has drawn software industry’s attention due to its collaborative development, open source, free to use and convenient to educate and research. WebGIS development based on open source software provides an effective way to efficient, low cost and open WebGIS development.This thesis researches and explores WebGIS development based on open source software, the main content includes:1) Research on Web technology and WebGIS technology, especially the structure of WebGIS and operational principle of each component.2) Research and analysis on WebGIS open source software, learns and obtains its basic principle and develop methods, then raises system structure based on PostgreSQL, PostGlS. GeoServer and OpenLayers.3) Designs and develops a WebGIS that supports basic mapping operations, spatial feature and property query, online edit, heat map. etc. based on the open source WebGIS structure introduced before.4) Detailed the design, develop method based on open source software. In the end shows some screenshots that depicts functions realized before.
