The Book Of Songs In The Eastern And Western Countries And The Educational Reform In The Late Qing Dynasty

According to the increasingly serious domestic social crisis,after Boxer Rebellion,the Qing government began the all-round reform,which includes economic, military, education and politics,etc.This reform was conducted by Zhang zhidong, Yuan shikai and Li hongzhang,which was called Xinzheng. In this period the reform was in full swing,and no matter central or local poured the painstaking care on the education.As we all know that education is the root of nation,has important significance for country’s future.In 1905, the Qing government set up Xuebu and published Xuebu Guanbo in the following year.As a part of the Guanbo,Xuanyi shubao from east and west recorded the education situations of many countries at that time and the existence throughout the late Qing dynasty reform.Based on the above viewpoints,this paper attaches importance to the influences of modern Chinese education development,which was given by the east and the west, especially Japan.Meanwhile, re-examine the position of the education in Xinzheng.This paper do the analysis and study on the translation Xuanyi shuba from east and west, and combining with the biographies and experiences of the central figures in the reform.They are two chapters in the paper. The first focuses on the classification and analysis of the content of the newspaper. By studying the 160 issues of the translations,I divided the content into 6 categories :①The school of Japan②The school of Europe and America③The difference between The school of Japan and Europe and America④The science papers⑤The history of society and human beings⑥The theory of education.The newspaper lasted 7 years from the beginning to stop selling, published 160 issues in all,and there was a great changes in the content. As the time goes by,the articles in the newspaper became fewer and the enthusiasm to reform became weaker.The content of the focal point changed from primary school education changed to industry education,and put more and more importance on the situation in Europe and America,rather than Japan.In the last the newspaper lost the content variety. These changes have closely relationship with not only the political situation in the late Qing Dynasty, but also the leaders’ understanding to Japan at that time.
