| The first pedagogic magazine in modern China history, World of Pedagogy, lasting form 1901 to 1908, was published by LuoZhenyu twice a month, with successive edition of 166. Besides chief editor LuoZhenyu, WangGuowei, also there were other expert translators, mainly including FanBingqing, ShenHong, GaoFengqian, ChenYi, WangYouling, LuoZhenchang. The magazine, from 69 edition, enlarged its view to western pedagogic system while Japanese pedagogic system was its original focus.This dissertation focuses on the magazine's translation of foreign pedagogic system, from 1 to 68 edition. There are four chapters besides preface and conclusion. Chapterâ… is mainly about the translators themselves, helping to deeply understand the magazine's background and content. Chapterâ…¡outlines the general pedagogic system in America and Germany, which reflects the need of pedagogic renovation in late Qing Dynasty. Chapterâ…¢aims to analyze translators' desire and attention to the foreign pedagogic elites and administration mode through analyzing the original images described in the biography. Chapterâ…£compares the female pedagogic system of Japan and China. Obviously, it shows that Japanese model was seen and taken as a model during the construction process of China's female pedagogic system, another aspect showing that the magazine has played an important role in that period. |
