In the field of textile production, machine vision technology has been widely used. Due to a large amount of image data and the system needs to run complex and flexible algorithms, the entire image capture system have high demands in data transmission.In this paper, we describe the current research situation and development prospects in real-time image system and designs an image capture system based on FPGA for current development of fabric defect detecting. The hardware platform of the system consists of FPGA minimal system, the image capture module, the memory module, DSP interface module and PCI Express bus circuit module. Wherein, FPGA minimum system includes the power supply circuit, the clock circuit and the configuration circuit. The image capture module is just the design of Cameralink interface circuit and the memory module contains the interface circuit between FPGA and the memories including FLASH and SDRAM. We design the functional modules within the FPGA, including the design of PCI Express local bus timing module, the creation of SOPC and the programming on Nios â…¡. We also analyze the common image pretreatment algorithms and choose Gaussian filter to apply in image denoising.In this article, Modelsim software is used to simulate and analyze FPGA function modules.The results show that the timing of image capture module, image pretreatment module and PCI Express local bus modules meet the requirements. Finally, the system board is plugged into the PC for testing and the results show that the system can capture and transmit images in real time.
