The finance media in China are young and energetic. One of the most outstanding characteristics of them is that their capital is usually composed of private capital which is not quite common in China. Another characteristic is that some finance media are not affiliated to traditional press groups which means the political control could be not that strict. All these characteristics leads to a more professional way of news reporting and the finance media are thus considered as the best type of media to practice journalistic professionalism. The coverage of finance media is broad, from business, companies to all those related to economy. For example, the finance media in China are active in reporting disasters. However, disaster coverage is under strict control since calamities are in close relation with social stability. To some extent, the disaster reporting is a window through which the competition between political control and journalistic professionalism can be seen. This study focused on the coverage of "Nov15fire in Shanghai".
