Research On IPTV Video Quality Monitoring System

With the development of broadband internet access and the trend of triple play in our country, IPTV and other multimedia services will also be developed in full swing. Traditional methods of operation and maintenance of the telecom operators are difficult to adapt to the IPTV service monitoring. This thesis summarizes leading solutions and analyzes the actual needs of the domestic IPTV monitoring. With the in-depth study of IPTV video quality monitoring technology, this thesis proposes a suitable solution for domestic use.The solution of the system adopts a distributed architecture, including one control center and probes distributed over key IPTV network nodes. In order to guarantee the reliability and accuracy of the status of the IPTV service, the architecture of the IPTV system is analyzed and the industry standards are used to describe the video quality to form a reasonable and reliable IPTV video quality monitoring system.This thesis designs and implements the hardware and software architecture of the system as well as the function of each module. Moreover, applicable indexes for each component factor of video quality are chosen based on the domestic IPTV video features. In addition, this thesis also proposes a non-reference QoE (Quality of Experience) prediction model to measure the quality of experience and implements the related algorithms.Finally, after laboratory testing and online operating, the accuracy of the calculation of the indicators as well as the non-reference QoE prediction model is verified. Results show that the system can correctly and objectively evaluate IPTV video quality and can effectively help operation and maintenance personnel to monitor IPTV service.
