With the continuous development of the information technology, corporations are more and more dependent on the IT assets. The IT assets are diverse in types, scattered deployment, and short in replacement cycle. In most of the existing management practices, the IT assets bring nothing but a little benefit, while the related uncertainty is always a major problem trouble the IT managers. This paper conducts a complete investigation of the current business software and management concepts in industry, analyzes the application environment and business requirements, and finds out some software defects, and the misunderstanding of the traditional ideas. Based on the above work, this paper introduces the lifecycle management of the ITIL specification into the IT asset management systems. This paper combines the business processes into the logic processing of management system, and implement object-oriented development. The IT asset management system is developed on the Java EE platform, using object-oriented MVCF development model, and realize the business logic processing and data management by the EJB component technology. First, the overall system is divided into three logical levels of B/S structure. Then different techniques are used to achieve interface display layer, the business application layer and the underlying data management respectively. The hierarchical development allows program developers to divide different tasks, and development the whole work simultaneously, which greatly shorten the development duration. Furthermore, the relatively independence of each component not only guarantees a stable operation of the system, but also provides a good foundation for subsequent improvementThe system has innovated in the resource discovery and information gathering process, which uses simple, efficient, secure Web applications instead of the traditional methods depending on ICMP, SNMP, and WMI technology. The proposed novel methods significantly reduces resource consumption on the network and application server, and provides a rich set of security techniques to protect the sensitive data transmission, though it will increased the restrictions of managed resources. Due to the limited budget, and the available knowledge, the IT asset management system does not fully fulfill all the goals set in the beginning of the design, and a further improvement is needed to perfect the system. This system has been implemented in practical situation and the optimized management methods work well in improving enterprise efficiency.
